Digging deeper on Food Equity

Gini,

Today I wanted to highlight one important topic that came up again and again at our 2022 virtual Food Equity Summit, especially during the Food Equity Panel: What exactly is Food Equity?

It may seem complex but Food Equity is simply the idea that everyone, in every zip code, deserves access to good food.

A young girl eats a healthy snack.

"The food we eat is intimately connected to the neighborhoods we live in, the schools we attend, and the places we work. Rather than focusing on individual behavior change, we really need to be shifting our attention to the key structural inequities that make it really difficult for significant swaths of our society to consume a health-promoting diet."

- Dr. Priya Fielding-Singh, Assistant Professor of Family and Consumer Studies at the University of Utah and Author of "How The Other Half Eats"

Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA) is bringing together a movement to fight for Food Equity at every level of the food system.

Our programs work to transform the food landscape so all families can have access to food that is affordable, healthy, sustainable, high-quality, and culturally connected.

If we want lasting, meaningful change, we all need to stand together in support of initiatives that make a real impact on our neighbors and friends. Please consider making a tax-deductible gift now to support this important work.

Thank you for being a part of this movement,
