What we’re doing in the most food insecure region of the country

Summort community-centered work that changes lives! Fight for Food Equity.

Gini,

In order to transform our food landscape, we need to work within communities to find unique solutions — which is why I'm so excited about our efforts in the Mississippi Delta.

Mississippians have dealt with high rates of food insecurity for years. With nearly 16% of households unable to provide adequate food, Mississippi has been ranked the most food insecure state in the country - and residents of the Delta region often suffer the most. That's why Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA) is working with stakeholders throughout the region to make fruits and vegetables more affordable, accessible, and visible through community-centered change focused on empowering young people.

Our goal is to ensure that everyone has access to healthy and nutritious food — no matter where they live. You can help make it happen with your gift to PHA today!

Our work in the Mississippi Delta began in 2020, when we kicked off community listening sessions to hear from residents about the food future they saw for themselves. The feedback was clear: a better food system for the Mississippi Delta must embrace the "Next, the New, and the Native."

  1. It must connect with the next generation of young people, who too often leave the Delta because of a lack of opportunity.
  2. It must elevate new and innovative ways to build a strong food system.
  3. And, it must embrace the region's unique cultural and culinary history and variety of native vegetables.

From these sessions, we developed a three-year plan to make fruits and vegetables more affordable, accessible, and visible in the Mississippi Delta working hand-in-hand with the community.

In order to make this work happen, Gini — we need support from the PHA community. We're building relationships, connecting communities, and driving positive change in neighborhoods just like yours. And with your help, we're combining national best practices with local knowledge and resources to uplift health and transform our food system.

This change won't happen overnight. It requires steady and reliable support from people like you. That's why I'm hoping that we can count on your generosity today.

Support our work in the Mississippi Delta and across the country. Together we can build a better food future for all Americans!

With gratitude,

Innovative work is transforming our food system

Together we can do so much good - Donate now to help fight for Food Equity

Hi Gini,

You may know that Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA) works across all levels of the food system in the pursuit of Food Equity, but do you know how we do it?

While our country's charitable food system provides 3.6 billion meals every year, many food banks acknowledge that the health of the food they provide hasn't always been the top priority.

That's where PHA comes in. We're partnering with more than 40% of the nation's food banks through our Healthy Hunger Relief work to solve this problem by uplifting the health and well-being of their communities, and you can help!

Your generosity makes work like this possible — and helps transform our food system to be healthier for all. Please make a gift to PHA today to support all of our work toward Food Equity.

Together with our Healthy Hunger Relief partners, we're reaching 14 million people with healthy food through our partnership with 59 food banks across the US.

By working together we know that true systemic change is possible. Recently, the nation's largest network of food banks adopted the Healthy Eating Research guidelines to improve the quality of food offered and promote healthier food choices across the charitable food system. It's proof of the long-lasting impact of our work.

This is just one of the many ways we're addressing our food system at a systemic level. We've seen success through programs like Healthy Hunger Relief that wouldn't otherwise be possible. And with your help, we'll continue to create innovative initiatives to transform the food landscape and achieve Food Equity!

Thank you for your generous support and your commitment to our mission.

With gratitude,
