Your May PHA Update

This month from PHA

Hi Gini,

As we greet the start of May, the PHA team has been tirelessly nurturing our programs and witnessing their incredible impact on communities. We're so grateful for your ongoing support as we work towards a brighter, healthier future for all.

Read on for all our latest updates:

In the News

PHA President & CEO, Noreen Springstead recently joined Food Talk host Dani Nierenberg for an exciting conversation about the structural barriers to healthy eating — and what's needed to break them down.

Partner Highlight: Pairwise

We just announced an exciting three-year partnership with Pairwise, a health-focused food and agriculture company! This partnership supports a joint goal of increasing access to healthy, fresh, and affordable food and will help provide 630,000 servings of fruits and vegetables to families across the country.

Together, we'll work toward a shared goal of creating greater, sustained access to nutritious food and finding innovative solutions to problems facing our current food system.

PHA Supports Changes to WIC

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) recently proposed improvements and modernizations to the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children, known as WIC. The goal of these improvements is to increase equitable access to nutritious foods for families with babies and toddlers.

We just released our comments about the proposed rule about opening up the program to online ordering and grocery delivery.

More about the barriers to food equity

PHA believes that this proposed rule would improve equitable access to good food, would remove barriers to access like transportation and time challenges, and provide convenience as well as the dignity of choice for the more than 6 million women, infants, and children who rely on WIC.

P.S. It's hard to believe but the school year will be coming to an end soon. And while we're excited for summer, we also recognize that this time can be a challenge for people hoping to provide good food to their families.
