Gini, Did you know hunger is worse in the summertime? When schools are out, over 13 million children lose access to critical free meals they get during the year. That means they lose the daily lifeline they depend on for consistent, nutritious meals, which can mean going without good food entirely. That's what's called the summer hunger gap — and it can have devastating, long-term consequences for children. |

Kids who don't get enough to eat face a higher risk of health conditions such as asthma and anemia. They're also more likely to struggle in school and have social and behavioral problems. To top that off, we expect high food inflation rates and the end of emergency SNAP benefits to worsen summer hunger this year for families already struggling. Enough is enough. Access to affordable, good food shouldn't be dependent on the season. Every family, in every zip code, should have access to good food all year round. That's why Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA) is stepping up to fill the summer food gap. |

We're doing that through our commitment to add 100 million servings of fruits and vegetables to the marketplace by 2025, with a focus on the communities that need it most, when they need it most. We're also teaming up with our partner Instacart to ensure that every family, in every zip code can access good food all summer long. Throughout June, Instacart will be triple-matching all donations to PHA, up to $30,000, so we can make three times the impact together. Please consider making your early gift now to help feed families when they need it most. We must all stand together to help families thrive, not just survive. That's why I'm so grateful for PHA supporters like you, helping to make our work possible. With Gratitude, Jason Wilson Head of Communications Partnership for a Healthier America |
